Guestlist

Showing off your wedding ring is usually the first thing we do offer getting engaged. These first weeks of the engagement is pure euphoria, then reality hits… you’ve got a wedding to plan! Where do you even begin? The first recommended thing to do is to create your wedding guest list, the amount of guests will have a direct impact on your budget an in every other aspect of your wedding, this is why we recommend making this task a priority.  Creating your list might seem at the beginning an easy task but it will get more complicated since you will have the input of both sets of parents an unfortunately this task must be perform by you so the wedding planner won’t be Abe to help much.

Today is much more common to create a guest list that doesn’t include the “whole family”, instead couples are creating intimate events with a much more selective list, of course, that doesn’t mean families won’t ask you to add specific guests to the list but unliked old days, this is a more collaborative effort between the couples and their families.

There are things that won’t change ever like what to do with friends that you have not seen in months or inviting children or inviting all of the friend requested by your mother in law.  To help you get started we created a bullet point list of some practical advises:

  • Have a heart to heat conversation with your fiancé about the visions for your wedding, this will include the location, the size, the colors, etc).
  • Create two lists, the first one will contain the names of those who must be invited and the second list will include those guest that you should invite or will like to invite but they are not really a concerned if they don’t get the invite.
  • Ask both sets of parents to give you their list of requests and give them a number to stick to it.
  • Create cutting rules, for example, if you haven’t spoken to someone in at least a year, you may decide not to invite them.
  • Make sure to collect full names and last name from all your guests and their title. This will be useful later on at the time to create the invitations.

Download our guest list template to help you create the perfect guest list and keep track of their attendance.
