Don’t you sometimes wish you could do something different, even if it’s for one day? Well, honestly that never crossed my mind until I was presented with a challenge…A baby shower with the lowest budget ever! It’s not like I haven’t planned a budget even before, but this one was very special since it involved family, so it was a “take it or take it job,” – no way out!
The father wanted a sports theme for the baby shower, making it challenging, that’s not a very common baby shower theme. A trip to a dollar store was our first step. There I found the baby dolls for $1.00, but they wouldn’t sit down because they were too fluffy. Nevertheless, it was an easy fix…one stick got the job done. Some paper decorations on styrofoam and different balls from different sports and wah-lah! Oh, almost forgot about the baseball caps, which I had to sew from scratch.
Blue and yellow still had to be used as the predominant colors and. To add more decorations without braking the bank, I got the cardboard tubes from the inside of some wrapping paper I had purchased for Christmas and cut them in 1 inch cylinders. I then covered them with some “piñata” paper and they were instantly transformed into very cute napkin rings. Since linen would have just blown the budget, I use the vinyl version and added some runners, also made by cutting up the same vinyl table covers.
The food was all homemade, including a beautiful fruit platter in the shape of a stroller and some little birds made out of apple.
The engagement pictures were taken by www. Marcelinphotography.com and the event pictures were taken by everyone else in the party. The party was held at Villa Laura, a perfect location for all types of events. It is a hidden jewel.
The purpose of the baby shower was accomplished, since all the guests had an excellent time. Kevin’s parents where blessed with lots of gifts and everything looked very nice and cute once it was put together…and most importantly… it was BUENO, BONITO Y BARATO!
