Money or Gift?

money-gift-for-weddingMany couples have been leaving together for quite some time before they get married; therefore most of these couples have a home established with all the stuff needed. If you are one of them then you are probably asking yourselves “How do we let our guests know that we prefer money rather than a wedding gift?” nobody can blame them. Most of these couples are paying for their wedding themselves, for their honeymoon or even for a down payment on a house, so why not to ask for some cash instead of a second blender right?

Now is there a nice way to ask for money instead of a gift? I don’t think so, even though there are a lot of creative ideas out there, I believe that the invitation for an event should never imply that a gift is required. A wedding invitation should just convey that the person receiving it should be there at the specific special occasion.

In order to deal with this dilemma, a lot of companies have come up with solutions like honeymoon registry and bridal registries at banks, also I have knowledge of reputable companies that will allow you create a cash registry where your guest will donate to your funds anonymously.

Another way is to add a separate card to the inside of your invitation envelope with something funny like, “health and love we have but money we don’t!”, this will give guests the hint and it is not a rude way to ask.

Good luck!
